Thanksgiving 2013

Th 11.28.13
  • Happy First Thanksgiving little James!
  • after James' newborn photo shoot, we spent the rest of the afternoon in our mini-kitchen cookin' up a storm!
mom whipping up her famous apple pie...she's just as excited as me!
  • mom testing the gravy
  • Jake carving the turkey
  • the spread:
our brie bake appetizer was so good, we didn't get around to taking a photo until the last bite
Becky's attempt at some new dishes : roasted butternut squash and hashed brussels sprouts
(they turned out so-so...don't think the sprouts are in-season)

mashed potatoes and gravy
turkey and stuffing

the perfect plate
  • in between cooking and Skyping with family, we didn't sit down to eat until after 9pm, in true Argentine style
  • luckily we had a nice enough evening to dine outside on our patio
  • and who can forgot desert? not me and James!
  • we of course had apple pie, and then tried something different...a "real food" chocolate pecan pie (which mom thought was less pie-like, more bar-like...we still ate it all throughout the week - yum!)
  • hope you all had a lovely and DELICIOUS Thanksgiving, where ever you may have celebrated!
  • (p.s. I will forever be grateful that the weather at Thanksgiving in the midwest is typically on the cool side...all this cooking and baking really heats up the kitchen on an already hot summer day in BA!)
